Recommendations for Crete

Hi all

Inspired by a thread asking for recommendations for the Canary Islands....

We are planning a holiday to Greece this summer and had thought Crete might be nice, based on hearsay. Two adults and two teens. Ideally we'd like an apartment with access to a pool, and within walking distance of the beach, bars and restaurants. Plus value for money! Anyone any recommendations for the best towns / locations? Thanks.

I loved Sissi - went twice in two years, but that was 20 years ago! May have changed out of all recognition!

Stalis in Eastern Crete is nice. Several apartments such as the Latania or Matamy. Might fit your bill.

Thanks both - sadly not much traffic but I will certainly look at both of those suggestions.

Chania

We have been to Rethymno, we stayed at the Rimondi hotel and it was lovely, we also really liked the old town where we had some gorgeous meals and we did a brilliant day trip to Santorini which we loved.
We went towards the end of lockdown so it was very quiet, would go back though!
We have recently fallen in love with Croatia so going there again this year 🙂

Another one to say Stalis, we’ve been a couple times, also been to Agios Nikolaos.
