Conscription premonition

I remember when I had my second boy 16 years ago and my mum’s friend said “There’s a war coming”….
i scoffed but now, with talk of conscription in the news, I think she may have been right!

Given she’s probably not a psychic, is this an expression you’ve heard on having multiple sons or was she just being silly?

There’s always war, it’s not hard to predict. It’s like taxes.

And recessions.

However there is a lot of talk about it at the moment. But you can’t do anything about it. So try not to worry about it.
we are the puppet of America, and don’t get a lot back for it, other than some chlorinated chicken.

It's not going to happen. Even the Daily Mail won't push this.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/01/2024 19:11

Never going to happen

war makes money, remember you are not important to the politicians, they have done a superb job of divide and rule to this country while making some of the richest people richer and the poorest people poorer.
Remember it’s election time, so there is an element of distraction.

I take no notice of politics, or the news in general and life goes on.
Don't play their silly games, they use fear as a tool to control and manipulate people.
I want no part of it.

Young people of today are not young people of the 30s. They are unlikely to go and will probably prefer jail to fighting. I reckon the Government knows this. My own adult children will not go.

I am a veteran and my DF was conscripted in 1945 and fought and killed people. It damaged him forever.

Yep Im sure people will be happy to give their all only to come back to go on long lengthy NHS and housing waiting lists!

PuttingDownRoots · 28/01/2024 19:20

16 years ago the British Army was in Afghanistan and Iraq. There was a war going on!

Wadermellone · 28/01/2024 19:24

There was literally a war. It wasn’t a premonition at all.

and saying there’s a war coming is like saying spring is coming. Of course it is.

Whats that got to do with conscription? She didn’t say there will be conscription.

FairisleFairy · 28/01/2024 19:27

Well that’s a pretty nasty thing to say to someone who’s just given birth. Is she a bit of a sour bitch in general or does she just enjoy being right in a stopped clock kind of way.
