Right of passage things for a 10th birthday?

DS turns 10 this year and I’d really like to do something to mark double digits. Wracking my brain.

Can anyone think of anything? Something to mark new double digits, which feels huge!

Ear piercing was traditional in my family

Mobile phone?
(NB next big birthday is only 3 years away. Becoming a teenager ...)

I got my ears pierced.

Let him redesign his bedroom.
Take him on an experience day.
Buy him something he's wanted for ages but been too young for.
Get him a bank account if he doesn't already have one, with bank card to use.

Some kind of medieval ceremony - you all wear capes and hats, then you present him with a (plastic) sword.

Bonus points if he's led into the room blindfolded.

That would stick in the memory.

Both of my DC got mobile phones at 10 as they could walk to school unaccompanied.

However they are 20 and 24 so times have probably moved on!

That book called "50 things to do before you're 11 and a half".

Treat it as any other birthday.
