Blue tits (birds)

We have blue tits come to our bird box every year. Had lots of youngsters then they and their parents fly away.
It is the 12th year and we have never touched the box.
One of our neighbours has suggested we take it down after this lot have left and give it a clean.
I've tried to Google to see if we should.
Is anyone experienced in this. We are scared in case they never come back.

I'm not an expert but I wouldn't touch it. We had success in our box then the box rotted and fell apart so my husband made a new one and they have been no where near it since

I've never heard of this. You could put up another box close by and see what happens I suppose but I would not meddle with the one you have.
