A nice hotel for DHs birthday, not too far from Manchester?

Decided I'll give him a night away from the kids rather than lego he won't build or Pj's 😂 Never really don't the 'adults only night away in hotel' thing.

Somewhere nice, not a premier inn, but don't want to spend more than say 200 for the hotel itself for 1 night.

Never really done this sort of thing before so any tips taken gratefully 😂

Carden park? They have a lovely new spa.

also really recommend the gilpin in the lake but might be too expensive.

For somewhere more casual but lovely, look at the wild boar also in the lakes ( it has a brewery on site if you like that kind of thing!)

Dakota Hotel in Manchester is next level. Highly recommend and the food is swanky.

Not sure of price but the Municipal Hotel in Liverpool looks amazing and the city is amazing too

Motttram Hall

Yes carden is great, or there is Cottons in Knutsford? Has a pool and sauna (not sure of prices)

York has some great hotels - not too far from you- look at trains- so easy to get there then everything is walkable. 'The Grand' hotel is amazing- 5 mins walk from station. Has a spa (not that I've used it) Tons of good restaurants in easy walking distance and the hotel restaurant also has a good rep. Other than that if you are up for a Manchester City centre break the Hotel 'Indigo' near Victoria station is wonderful and someone else has already mentioned the Dakota.

Ditto York or Chester

slithytoveisascientist · 27/01/2024 00:04

Mottram hall - restaurant is fab as is spa

NellytheElefunk · 27/01/2024 09:01

Thanksill look into these.

I don't want to do York as I would like to go there for my own birthday and do all the ghosty stuff. DH knows this and if I book York it's going to seem like I'm doing it for myself more than him.

Crabwell manor & spa in Chester

Look at Shrigley Hall in Pott Shrigley, very accessible to Manchester, nice spa, for £200 it's a pretty decent bet.

Tetsuo · 27/01/2024 11:34

I'm not sure you'd get a room at The Dakota Manchester for £200.

NellytheElefunk · 27/01/2024 12:25

Yeha I think my budget was a bit optimistic :( especially when factoring in a meal etc
