How long between payrises?

Just want to know peoples opinions on how long after a payrise you’d ask for another. I know obviously if you were promoted etc, but I mean within the same role.
My plan with my current role was to always try my luck yearly, as my experience will have grown and taken on the odd additional responsibility plus inflation etc.
However, somebody from another team within my organisation has recently been promoted to the same role as me and they have let me know their salary and it’s the same as mine. I think they deserve it as we aren’t on much, but I also think I deserve more than them as I have an additional 2 years experience in this role and hold an additional qualification to them.
My last payrise was less than 6 months ago and it was 5k, which was a significant amount because we aren’t on much.
I think I might look cheeky asking for more after such little time, and also I don’t think they’d be impressed if I brought up the colleagues pay as a reason anyway.

It would be wise to have written notes about why you feel that you should have a pay rise though. Proving that you are worth the extra money would be beneficial.
Why is the company better off with you being in the role that you are in now?

Don't ask for a pay rise based on what someone else earns unless there's an equal pay discrepancy. Do you get annual rises?
