Do I need to see my GP?

A few weeks ago I discovered I was waking up with a numb hand. Same one each time

I don't sleep on that side so put it down to maybe moving and not knowing it. Anyway, it keeps bothering me and I'm finding it's still lingering during the day

The hand feels less numb after I've been up for a while but it's definitely a big problem. The feeling in it is all weird and very spacey

Should I see a GP or will he say I'm sleeping on it? Blush I set an alarm a few times to catch myself out and every time I'm not sleeping on it

Does the feeling come back or does it stay numb? I don't want to alarm you but the only symptom I had when I had a stroke was a numb foot but once it went numb it stayed numb and I still only have limited feeling in it.

@mynewusername2023 sorry to hear you had a stroke

The feeling does come back. But I have to say it's never 100% if that makes sense. I can't describe it because even though right now it's fine, there's a certain dullness in sensation compared to my other hand

My right eye sometimes feels like it's got a bit of cling film (is that how you spell it?!) over it sometimes. But that comes and goes too and they aren't necessarily present together

Thank you. My stroke affected my sensation so I don't have as much sensation in one side of my body. I'd definitely recommend getting yourself checked out. As it's been going on a while it probably isn't something for a&e but perhaps worth a trip to the drop in centre if you have one.

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about but until you see someone, you'll probably worry more.

Likely carpal tunnel syndrome or cubital syndrome. Buy yourself a neoprene wrist splint on Amazon and wear it at night every night for a month and see if it makes a difference. Also try not to bend your elbow up underneath you at night, and don't spend too much time on your phone with your elbow bent.
Have a look for median nerve and ulnar nerve gliding exercise online also

Bent elbows? You can wrap your arm in a towel to stop it bending in the night. Can't think how I fixed it on.

Had ulnar nerve done which helped.
I now get a thick band feeling on my fingers too though.
