Evening wise ones Grin

My daughter in law went into labour today. Two weeks early. She's in hospital and all is well. Oh my days my nerves are absolutely jangling. My heart goes out to her.

It's all surreal and I can't concentrate.

That's it really Grin

Hope all goes well for her with the birth and you'll have a lovely new baby in the family soon. You need some sort of distraction there could be no news for hours!

Noneofourbusiness · 26/01/2024 20:36

@Coffeeandmarmaladetoast thank you. Oh I know, need to keep busy to help pass the time.

How exciting. You will soon have lovely grand baby cuddles.
I have three honarary grandchildren. My late partner died in 2018 and his three children all had children within six weeks of each other. They will all be three this year and I LOVE the time. I get to spend with them...

LakeTiticaca · 26/01/2024 20:39

Exciting!! Are you a first time grandma.?

Noneofourbusiness · 26/01/2024 20:42

@Elderflower14 so sorry about your partner 💐

That's really lovely you have three grandchildren and they are all the same age. It will be lovely that they will all grow up together.

This is our second grandchild. My son and daughter in laws first daughter is two and a half. Not sure what she's going to make of the new baby 🤣

Yes, grand baby cuddles are definitely amazing 💖

Baby is considered 'fully cooked' at that gestation so should be fine.
I've never been in your situation but can guess at how concerned you are - wishing your daughter an easy birth and worrying about it.
The chances are massively in her favour that all will be well, so maybe have a glass of sherry to practice being a Grandma, Granny, Nanny or Nanna, whatever your title may be! 😉
And then maybe consider having a slightly earlier night so you are a bit more compos mentis if there is any news overnight.
All the best.

Noneofourbusiness · 26/01/2024 21:20

@vipersnest1 thank you 😁think I will have a glass of something tonight, to help calm the nerves.

Oh how exciting! I don't have DC but am Auntie Lollipop to my friends' children. 2 girls (7 and 9) a boy (5) and as of last Wednesday a new little baby boy!

Newest addition to the group was a dinky 5lb 4 as he was around 3 weeks early (is that considered early? Spot the childless one Grin) but I can't wait for the cuddles!

Fingers crossed for an uneventful labour and birth for your daughter-in-law, and lots of baby snuggles for you Smile

Noneofourbusiness · 26/01/2024 21:49

@LollipopViolet thank you for your kind words. Aww how lovely four children for you to shower with love and time 💖 congratulations on your new addition, 5Ib 4 is teeny tiny. Bet you are looking forward to seeing him.

I am sure all will be well with my lot. Not heard a peep for three and a half hours now. Hopefully they are resting. Really looking forward to seeing them all soon.

Such a lovely thread! Congratulations OP.

ghostbusters · 27/01/2024 12:17

Congratulations!
I told my mum when I went into labour with my first (first grandchild) and went to hospital mid afternoon. She didn't sleep a wink that night. Luckily DS was born before breakfast the next day so she could calm her nerves and have a nap!
Enjoy thy cuddles and that gorgeous baby smell 👶

Noneofourbusiness · 27/01/2024 13:12

Thanks everyone 💐

@ghostbusters aww your lovely mum. Glad she managed a nap.

Looking forward to seeing them soon. Not going to rush/push in. I said to them to let me know when they are ready to see us and just enjoy the bubble they are in at the moment. Because you never get these precious moments back again.
