Can I still change them at the bank? I've found £200 in old £20 notes in a jacket pocket... I'm over the moon, and devastated at the same time and google can't help me. Does anybody here work for a bank or post office and can help please?

Thank you!

I recently found one and googled and got results saying yes, you can change them at a post office or bank. Haven’t gone yet.

You can always exchange notes that are no longer in circulation at the Bank of England. There's a teller! (Or at least there was. ) Not much good if you're in rural Aberdeenshire, but a charming little outing if you're in London.

Yes, I took some into my local Nationwide just 2 weeks ago.
I paid them into my account, I couldn't just exchange them, I think.

Thank you all!! That is just wonderful news! I must be so excited I can't even google straight.

Yesterday I saw something on TikTok about manifesting money, and comments all said you can't just 'wish' it, you need to do something. I kept repeating money affirmations. I just got up, opened the curtains, and saw the amazing huge full moon, and reminded myself good things can happen... then I looked in all my old jacket pockets for a hair tie, and couldn't believe what I found.

No hair tie tho :)

Off to the bank first thing! (if I can find a branch that hasn't closed down!).

I’m always surprised when people can post on MN but are unable to use Google.

I did try via Google first, but I think I was in such a tizzy I can't get my head straight and read the google results. Now I'm googling with much more success... My head was just spinning. I needed someone to sit down and calm me down. This is a lot of money for me.

You can pay them in to an account at the post office, but you cannot exchange them.
