Blister on son's finger - any ideas how to treat this?

As above. Does anyone know what this could be and how to treat it?
(Yes I know his nail is dirty it's too painful for him to scrub them)

It started yesterday and has gotten bigger today. He says it hurts when touched but not always painful. Definitely going to the pharmacy tomorrow with him but just wondering if anyone can offer an opinion?

Does it look fungal? Infection? A blister? I'm not sure whether to cover it or what to apply.

Thanks

Could be a whitlow, it needs treatment sometimes with antibiotics and drainage

I wonder if he is developing a paronychia (infection around the nail). Does he bite his nails?
I would suggest soaking in warm salt water overnight and cover with a plaster for comfort and protection. He take take painkillers if he needs to, no need to be in pain unnecessarily
It might develop into an infection and need antibiotics or it might not, unfortunately only time will tell.

It looks like a whitlow? Basically a cold sore on the finger.

He's a nail biter, yes. And sometimes bites the little bits of his cuticles too which is how I thought this has happened.

I've got him soaking it in warm water with coconut oil in as that is antibacterial and anti fungal at the moment. Will do some salt water as well.

Not sure whether to cover? Doesn't look like the photos of a whitlow when I've looked it up

Or paronychia

Photos after soaking 🤔

He's still using his hand as normal he just says it's sore when touched. Definitely get him checked tomorrow and will likely cover tonight.

That side view looks like he's damaged it - a cut or biting - and it's got infected
