ADHD medication side effects

My son has ADHD was fine on 30mg medikinet for 18 months but then it seemed to stop working he worked his way up to 50mg medikinet over 2 months. His already skinny and lost weight. But over Christmas he was really poorly for 5 weeks in and out of hospital unable to eat and sick everyday and all we had was diagnosis of gastro problems. Not sure if the meds had anything to do with this. Can not get a straight answer. Anyways he has not been on meds for 5 weeks and today was given 30mg lisdexamfetamine to try. Within an hour he was complaining again of stomach pains and sickness, hasn't eaten alday and seems more irritable. I was wondering what other people's experiences are with these meds. I'm concerned more about the lack of appetite. I'm told get him checked by gastro yet I been back and for to hospital doctors seen so many surgeons doctors but yet still waiting for answers.

Not the same meds but my ds is on xaggitin xl and has lost an insane amount of weight. He just has zero appetite and doesn't eat. It's worrying me.

I'm on elvanse (lisdexamphetamine) if you take your medication on an empty stomach it can make you feel pretty sick, the trick with adhd meds is a high calorie breakfast a light lunch and then a decent tea. If underweight you need to add cream and butter to foods where you can and make smaller meals that are high calories. My medication has made me sick on a fair few occasions but not continously.
