Universal credit and maternity allowance

I’m coming towards the end of my maternity allowance payments so I will need to apply for universal credit. I’m not sure if I need to apply now before my last MA payment so I still have some income or if I have to wait until I stop receiving it. Only as I won’t be entitled to much with MA factored in.
Will they then amend this after my last MA payment? Will it delay the application if I update this mid way through the processing?
I will have no other income but child benefit and child maintenance once MA stops so I’m scared about how I will pay my bills, rent and food.
Please no judgement, I’m a single mum with no means of childcare so I need to take some time away from work.
Thank you.

No experience, but if you're entitled to some UC with MA factored in ... why haven't you already applied and started receiving it alongside?

Think whatever you get in MA gets deducted from the UC amount so you don't get both

Apply asap, as they don't backdate.

Apply straight away. It's worked out monthly based of the previous months earnings reported directly from hmrc, so it will be calculated accurately before and after the wage stopping.
