How long until you know a job isn’t for you?

Nurse….headed towards 4 months in new role, still not feeling it. The culture fit isn’t really for me and I feel a bit miserable and isolated. How long do you give a role before you call time and look for something else?

4 months for me, decided it wasn't for me so I moved on and now nearly 2 years into job. The job before that was 15 years.

I think 4 months is long enough. Hard to see what will change after 4 months. My last job I knew after 2 but it took me a while to work out what to do next and I ended up sticking it out for 6 so I could go straight to something else.

Good luck whatever you decide.

One afternoon. Working in a call centre and I hadn't been told that once I went "live" that I would be working until after the buses stopped running to my town from the city where the job was.

second day. Working in a freezing cold florists as a teenager, wiring greenery for funeral wreaths ☹️. Tried the morning of day 3, went for lunch and never went back.
I think 4 months is long enough, you’ve given it a good try.

If you're a nurse and you're four months in, you're unlikely to be short of new offers. If you're not happy, leave.

My last job I knew within a couple of weeks. The culture was awful. I stuck it out for almost two years to have senior experience behind me and did some really good work there, but the people were like nothing I’d ever come across.
