I finished the book - mum fail

last nights fail - DS was reading homework with me and the book was quite interesting but after he’d done the 3 chapters needed he stopped but left me with the laptop. I read all of the book ‘not too bad’ without realising it was giving him gold points - he’s now top of the class (luckily only for a day) and find it hilarious. never could resist another chapter. Anyone else please say not just me?

During Covid DS1 had to make an igloo out of items from the recycling and show it to the teacher over the online learning platform.

Of course I ended up doing it and at one point I remember getting quite stressed and batting DS1 away when he was trying to add something that didn’t fit with my igloo aesthetic Blush

Think I’ll have to blame Covid madness for that one

"igloo aesthetic" I love that 😂

I remember sitting on my hands supervising DS make an Easter egg display. I gave him the idea and he painted the egg and the cardboard background himself. It was admittedly really good and he won the class prize. Then my SIL kept saying "yeah, there's no way you didn't do it for him". I was really cross - I didn't help at all (just gave creative direction! 😆)

In Year 2, my ‘daughter’ was top of the school one week for TT Rockstars (times-tables), and got honourable mention in the school newsletter 🙈

(I was trying to beat the clock)

@SingingSands Oh wow that really made me giggle

My DD is very talented at Art so when DS had to draw a self portrait for school in Year 7 with no artistic talent whatsoever himself she did it for him. Apparently she tried to dumb it down a bit so it looked authentic. I was unaware of this as it happened on their weekend with their Dad.

I was having coffee with a friend who had a son in DS's class. She said her son had said "my son's name' brought in a self portrait that his sister had done and was pretending it was his. Everyone knew his sister had done it as she is well known at school as being brilliant at art and DS is shit at it.

When I asked DS about it he told me she'd done it for him and he'd got away with it and no one had sussed it out. It made me smile as everyone knew.

I accidentally applied for college. I put my name where dds was supposed to be and didn’t realise until they sent an interview invitation.
Obviously I had to call and explain which was embarrassing.

DD had a hospital appointment over her English lesson and she was getting really stressed out about the fact she had to write a poem before the end of the lesson. I insisted they wouldn't hold her to that, what with her not actually being there but she got herself so worked up about it. Obviously the clinic was running late so I managed to find the back of a receipt or something and got her to make a start on one. I fancy myself as a bit of a poet (offspring of a published but mediocre one; I'm equally mediocre!) so I took her ideas and made them rhyme and scan, encouraging her to come up with more descriptive words.

A nurse saw what we were trying to do and leant us some proper paper and a pen so DD could write up the finished version. DD took it back to class calm and happy she'd I'd done the task.

'Her' poem ended up being published in the school newsletter that week 🙈 I gave myself a virtual gold star 😂

I love these! DH reminded me I may have also not voted in an election as I put DS DOB not mine on my postal vote. I seem to have form for not reading questions

Just remember I applied for a primary school place using my DOB not my eldest child's. Also it was a late application (moved house) and was supposed to send it the local authority admissions department not my first choice school. Got a phone call from 1st choice school querying the DOB and why I had sent it to the school after the deadline. I was so embarrassed. Luckily I was pregnant at the time so just claimed baby brain. They were very nice about it, changed the DoB and sent it to the LA for for me! This was back in the day when it was paper forms and none of the online forms where you get a copy of it sent to your email so you can check for errors! 🤣

I once finished my son's mathletics homework. He has dyscalculia and we had done four excruciating pages. He used to be so embarrassed he was the only child without a certificate on the wall at school so I finished it! He was in year one and I only told him recently when he went to university.
