My sister and I have been using Ai (artificial intelligence) recently to create and send each other ridiculous song lyrics and personalised short stories for a laugh. The technology is pretty incredible.
There's a website we use called Deep Chat and you can ask it to write an essay about beans and it will literally generate the essay in seconds. If it reads too stiff and unnatural you can tweak it by replying something like "reword in the style of Stephen Fry". My sister sent me an article about an Ai chatbot app which is designed to be a personal companion that replicates human like speech to have conversations with its users. She didn't send me this because she was into it but more to say how crazy is this. I did a quick Google and found some people on reddit and the like who seem to think they are dating these chatbots. Do you think dating Chatbots could really take off or is it more likely to remain a niche interest?

Why don't you just ask it to write your journalistic piece on chatbot dating rather than coming on mumsnet for quotes?!

You wait until ChatGPT 5 or 6 when automatous agents are added. This is when the processing power on their servers allows them to store all previous interactions. Currently the technology doesn’t have a “memory” so these people who say they are dating it every time they open it are having a fresh interaction. Once auto agents is in you will be able to interact with it in terms of your own previous interactions with it. This will really take the tech to another level because memories create personality. Once auto agents are here we will probably see a lot of people “dating” it. Now think once they can integrate that into the new robotics coming (see Tesla Optimus and Boston dynamics) and ofc very closely followed by sex robots. It’s going to get real weird in years to come.

They will be used to replace people for those scammy dating ones where people think they’re talking to one girl but it’s just a bank of random chat hosts getting paid pennies for each message sent.

There was a guy in the news recently who was enjoying a "sexually charged" relationship with a chatbot called Sarai, who was cheering him on with his plans to kill the Queen.

But currently it can remember interaction within one chat. So if you keep textimg there it will be able to respond in a way you like.
Although it will take ages to load if you communicate a lot.
