How often do you feel pretty?

Just that really!

Never really. I can’t think I have ever thought that.
I am not facially pretty nor do I have the body shape that is currently considered desirable.

Sometimes once in a blue moon I have worn something that I really like and I feel good in it but never pretty or even beautiful or attractive.

The older I get the further away it is that I would ever feel pretty or even nice looking.

AngryBird6122 · 23/01/2024 21:51

oh @Bathtimebarbara that makes me sad

Unless, of course, that doesn't bother you!

Every single day because my hubby not only says it but shows it. Before him never as my self confidence was zero

NotAllWhoWanderAreLost · 23/01/2024 22:01

Probably about 10-20% of the time in general.
90% of the time after I’ve had my hair done.
Answering this in winter, Summer might give a different answer.

About 2 days a month.

637Nivea · 23/01/2024 22:05

I swear some days I'm very pretty and other days I am a dreadful old hag. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. So roughly 50% of the time.

😂I can relate to this

That's lovely!

Since having lots of therapy I think I look pretty fairly often. Sometime I catch sight of myself and think I am beautiful even, because I am a good person and I am happy and love myself and it shines out of me.

other times I have a rough night sleep and look pretty rough on a surface level, bags and full skin etc

Nestofwalnuts · 23/01/2024 22:07

About 2% of the time. Or less. But I am nearly sixty and overweight, although DH says I 'scrub up well'. I also know how to apply makeup properly and if I can be bothered, it looks good and I notice that men of a certain age smile at me with a twinkle when I pass them in the street, whereas that never happens if I am in my dog walking coat and no make up.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/01/2024 22:07

Depends how much sleep I've had 😄

I don't think I ever really feel pretty, I do relatively often feel like I look good, that my outfit looks stylish, that I feel glam and things have come together nicely etc ..but never pretty..

YES!!! sleep makes allll the difference to how I feel about myself in the mirror in the morning

I'm not pretty, I'm fat blob , with a hairy chin (thanks pcos) and a red face (thanks rosacea).

I also notice the difference in the way men treat me if I don't bother and then if I make an effort 😐

Never, I feel like I’m plain Jane personified xxx

RubyRed55 · 23/01/2024 22:11

I used to feel pretty in my 20s. I was confident I looked good when I went out. Now, at 48, maybe once in a blue moon do I feel pretty. Acceptable, but never pretty 🥺

IHS · 23/01/2024 22:11

I looked okay when I was about three. It was downhill from there really. I prefer to imagine that I have character instead 😂

DreamingInPhosphorescence · 23/01/2024 22:12

Never. I try and aim for ‘striking’ instead, with varying success.

Missingmybabysomuch · 23/01/2024 22:14

I used to. But after 2 kids I don't recognise myself any more. I am slim but my face looks different somehow. I'm constantly knackered and get no time for proper self care.

groveparker0 · 23/01/2024 22:16

Like others on here, never.

I am absolutely old enough to know better than this but sometimes I look at pics of celebs or people on Instagram or just normal people in the street or even my friends and I wish I could experience what it's like to be pretty/attractive just for a day.

BUT most of the time I don't think about it as long as I can avoid photos and mirrors. It doesn't make me miserable, more resigned to being me!

SittingOnTheChair · 23/01/2024 22:17

We are all pretty!

I feel pretty every day. Single and 50.

AngryBird6122 · 23/01/2024 22:24

@SittingOnTheChair it was more about how we feel though rather than if we are! I was pondering it as I sat in front of the mirror today after my bath 😂
