I've been fasting for the last two weeks and have really enjoyed it and have lost 8lb it really has been great. Tonight however I was so hungry and my co worker bought me chips ( she's didn't realise I was fasting) so I've eat the chips, then I had some crisps and I've now had the 'well I've semi blown it for tonight so I may as well have a mars bar with my coffee' I need to get back on track so I'm setting my timer for a 20 hour fast and I will not stuff my face until I'm done!

This is exactly why I couldn't fast!

Hello, please be kind to yourself. I’m not surprised you were hungry after starving yourself? Please don’t continue to starve yourself tomorrow. Please try to eat foods that make you feel good.

I do really enjoy it and the health benefits are great. I've just had 'one of those' days and the junk food was there.

Planned fasting for health benefits isn’t the same as fasting to try to make up for eating too much.
8lb over a fortnight is a lot. How long are you fasting for and what are you eating inbetween?

DaisyDreaming · 23/01/2024 22:02

Have you not eaten at all for the past 2 weeks?

Firstly don’t beat yourself up for eating tonight, it doesn’t actually sound like you’ve eaten a lot at all for one day, and one day doesn’t matter.

secondly. It doesn’t sound like you’re doing healthy fasting. If you’re honest with yourself have you fallen into an unhealthy mindset? Are you on a high from fasting? Are you doing fasting in a safe way just to boost your health (and by health I don’t mean get skinny) or are you just trying to drop weight or feel good about what you’re doing? maybe have a look at the BEAT website if any of that rings a bell before it becomes an issue, if it isn’t already.

If you don't eat for two weeks then your body is going to be crying out for food. Fasting that long seems mad to me.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 23/01/2024 22:16

Why do you been by fasting exactly?
Zero food or small amounts.

I wouldn't be able to function. I would get weak and have headaches.

chickensadsikky · 23/01/2024 22:23

I fast 18:6 which is the most common were I'll only have water and black coffee during my fasting window. I'll break my fast for 6 hours and in that time I'll have healthy foods such as scrambled eggs, steak, vegetables or soups etc. when I'm satiated I stop, close my window for the next fasting period. I suffer with heath issues and fasting very much helps me. I just had a bad day today and temptation won unfortunately

So you were doing intermittent fasting not fasting. Big difference. You made it sound like you ate nothing for two weeks.

wubwubwub · 24/01/2024 07:48

I don't think eating a portion of chips, a pack of crisps and mars bar counts as binging??

Loads of people would eat those on any given day...?

Leftleg · 24/01/2024 07:50

So all you've eaten today is chips, crisps and a chocolate bar? I wouldn't call that a binge although it's not very nutritious.

disappearingfish · 24/01/2024 07:56

Do you have a lot of weight to lose because it sounds like you might be tipping over into disordered eating.
