What bedlinen do I need?

We're moving house, and have promised ourselves that after 15 years of threadbare inherited and limp supermarket duvet covers, we're going to invest in proper grown up bedding.

I want it to feel like a high end hotel bed - heavy duty and gorgeous quality. Needs to wash well and be robust enough for kids to probably spill stuff on it etc. I'm thinking possibly all white so I can blast it with strain remover if needed...?

Also, can my old duvet feel luxe with the right cover? Or do I need to buy a new duvet and pillows? Which ones?

100% Egyptian cotton(preferably sateen) with a high thread count, preferably minimum 400 for duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases.
We also have a mattress topper, which even though we have a very good mattress, feels like sleeping on a cloud!
Pillows are a very personal thing, I can’t stand down and memory foam, and will only have Dunlopillo latex pillow, but a lot of people absolutely hate them!
Goose feather and down duvet is a winner for me, but if you have allergies they’re not the best

I would recommend at The White Company and Piglet in Bed. Look for high thread counts for cotton (400, as above, is a good minimum).
