Does anyone know whether those online chat service people are actually replying to multiple people at once? I can't understand the long delay when some replies are a yes/no- yet they takes ages to read my response. Just frustrated from a 40min 'chat' which could have taken 10mins 😡

I think there are multiple conversations. I also think that if your question doesn’t fit their limited range, they’re useless anyway.

When I was working in a role that involved live chat, one person could take up to six chats at once. I tended to prefer to only take about three. If you only took one at a time, you would not meet targets and would be waiting around for someone to type up a long paragraph, which meant that other people would be waiting in a queue to get to speak to anyone, even if they had a very quick question.

What used to annoy me was when people would both phone up and be on live chat at the same time. I could often hear a colleague talking to the person I was chatting to, so I would ask them if they would prefer to continue the conversation on live chat or the telephone.

Thanks for the replies. I assumed they had 2 chats on the go, never thought up to 6 at a time!!! No wonder some are so slow.
