Can you get just one random contraction or not possible unless going into labour ?

So I'm 36+3 and last night while lying in bed I had this intense period type pain.
Just the once. What was weird though was my brains reaction to it... I literally felt dread, like oh no, I know this feeling, oh no not this pain, it's horrible. Like I was really scared as It took me back to labour and the awful contractions. That's what makes me think it was a contraction.
But is that possible, just a random singular contraction ?
It didn't happen again and I fell asleep. But it built up, peaked and tailed off like a contraction too. So weird !

The last few days I do feel very very heavy and uncomfortable, I have definitely dropped and am constantly having the urge to wee, even though most the time nothing much comes out. Babies movements are also very painful now, feels like baby has no room left in there

Anyone have anything similar?

I don't think it was as when I have them it's just a rock hard tightness with no pain, this was a full on period type pain that built up and peaked.
I guess I'm just looking for signs of labour starting, mine tend to come a couple of weeks before due date !
