The brexit check thread is quite funny Wink

VimtoVimto · 02/02/2024 19:44

The NHS thread is quite depressing. The state of the NHS is all down to Gordon Brown.

It has its moments. I found Clav's refutation of a report because the body that commissioned it had an office in Brussels quite entertaining. The Brexiters really have nothing to argue with.

Starmer is now being dragged into the Clapham threads because of his work in human rights.

MN is nuts right now. I am staying off those threads for my own sanity.

That is desperate.

DuncinToffee · 02/02/2024 20:06

So basically it's all Labour's fault, everything Grin

I am staying away from those threads, thanks for the warnings

Too true. I really hope this is a sign for a spring election because it is absolutely nuts on the boards!

Notonthestairs · 02/02/2024 20:34

It has gone quite nuts.
Maybe we wont have to weather another 10/11 months of this shitshow after all...

(still think it will be December, sorry).

Don’t be sorry. Better to be pessimistic and delighted to be proved wrong. I’m going to be gutted if it isn’t May.

The way these threads are appearing so quickly, I would say it's likely to be sooner rather than later.

They are looking for a purple patch and pushing the desperation.

newnamethanks · 03/02/2024 07:19

Stay off the bonkers threads, let them snark and snipe at each other. It's your fault, No, it's your fault. And everything is progressing very well😂

I have never heard the phrase "purple patch" and had to google it. Thanks for teaching me something new!

IClaudine · 03/02/2024 11:01

Labour would be insane to call a second election, even if they only have a small minority. Look what happened to Theresa May.

tobee · 03/02/2024 11:15

Just because the Tories are war gaming it doesn't mean it's going to happen, one way or the other.

IClaudine · 03/02/2024 11:38

I hope not. It is enough to give me nightmares.

Can someone explain this to me in words of one syllable? It's not making sense to me.

Will try again. I've quoted the wrong poster!

Zonder · 03/02/2024 12:27

It's this. I can't make sense of the headline. How could they do that? Are they seriously expecting they could win? I've got a bit of A headache and finding it hard to focus on reading the article!

TheABC · 03/02/2024 12:36

There's some element of wistful thinking going on at Tory HQ - maybe there has to be, for people to get enthusiastic about the job. No one goes into canvassing thinking "we're going to lose.' The external polling has been consistent with the recent byelection results and its going to take one hell of a swing to correct that.

What they are saying is, if Labour only win a wafer thin majority, then Starmer might call another election in the hope of increasing that majority. If that happened the Tories think they would actually have a chance of winning because they could win back the Toy* voters who deserted them.

It is farcical.

*This was a typo, but seems kind of apt😃

pointythings · 03/02/2024 13:40

I agree it's wishful thinking. The polls will undoubtedly narrow in the runup to a GE, but the Tories have fucked it up so hard that a wafer thin Labour majority is just extremely unlikely.

tobee · 03/02/2024 14:08

🙋🏻‍♀️ ooh ooh I know the answer to this! The Tories are thinking it's 1974; not 2024!

Thank you! I think the Toys are wrong 😂

DuncinToffee · 03/02/2024 14:54

The Tories are now predicting a hung parliament based on some private polling?

I think that's probably a wet dream for some of them given the reality...
