What are your cold cures (lighthearted)

I’ve come down with a horrible cold over the weekend. Shivering, temperature, tired and aching.
I’ve even phoned in sick today to try and get better but every time I lie down I start coughing like an excited walrus!
I seem to remember my great granny swearing by putting vinegar and brown paper bags on your feet when you go to bed. I’ve decided not to try this and I’m sticking with Albus oil, cold and flu tablets and Homes Under the Hammer.
Does anyone have any cold remedies they swear by?

Homeopathic plus vit c

KStockHERO · 22/01/2024 11:57

Hot Ribena. Tastes like days off school.

I always thought vitamin c was a bit pointless after you’re ill. Willing to try anything though.

Think I might have some blackcurrant juice somewhere.

Homemade chicken soup

Hot orange juice - particularly good if you’ve got a sore/scratchy throat.

AhhhThereWeAreThen · 22/01/2024 12:03

Ingredients:
Chunk of ginger, peeled and chopped
3 cloves of garlic, chopped
Half to 1 red onion, chopped, including the skin
Pint to pint & half if water

Method:
Simmer of 10 minutes
Strain into a lidded jug and let cool, store in fridge

Useage:
I like to warm through a teaspoon of honey with a little hot water and then add in some of thos mixture to fill a small tumbler, then just glug it back

Be brave!

Do it 2 - 3 times a day

@Seadreamers haven’t had chicken soup for ages. Sounds quite nice.

@AhhhThereWeAreThen thanks for the recipe. Does it taste as bad as it sounds? I think I might prefer to stay ill

Hot shower until the hot water runs out and you risk setting the smoke alarm off as it's so steamy! Get some spicy chicken ramen delivered. Smother your nose in Vaseline. Cuddle the dog and watch some trash tv. Get well soon!
