What type of illness is this?

High temp and heart rate as a result of that

Very lethargic

Sounds very gravely at the chest

My 6 year old had this symptoms. He is non verbal and usually full of non stop energy yet he can't move from the laying position Sad it's awful

I know it is not a GP issue but wondering what it could be because I have a very ex prem 2 year old who needs to ideally stay elsewhere if it's anything significant

Thanks so much

It's sounds like your average virus, miserable nonetheless.

Oneearringlost · 22/01/2024 07:43

To add, viruses are contagious, of course, so you may have to think about your next steps regarding you littlest. Good luck.

Hello.

I think because he is non verbal it is harder to find out what is wrong - a trip to the GP would be able to check his ears, throat, listen to his chest - would he co-operate with this or find it difficult?

Can he tell you where it is hurting if anywhere?

If he is lying completely still and has totally changed his usual behaviour I think you need to contact the GP (or 111 if you can't get through/appointment).

Is he still managing to eat and drink?

It could well be a virus but it could be helpful to rule out particular things, which needs an assessment.

Yes if he can't get up he needs medical attention.

The lying position won't help his chest either; if he can get up to any kind of upright I would encourage it.

Thank you, he's tried a few sips of juice but nothing else

Just wants to lay under a blanket. I think I'll be calling 111 if no better by lunchtime

He's had calpol but most didn't go in as he fought me sadly

He cannot point etc to where it hurts and cannot communicate anything specific at all Sad

Sympathies, I know how hard it is when they can’t tell you what’s wrong 😣
My son was ill like this a couple of weeks ago, similar symptoms, I’ve never seen him lie down for so long when he’s awake.
Hope he’s feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear this

It's so awful isn't it

He's just slept all day and when he's not sleeping, laying there looking into space

He's usually non stop moving (literally, can't stay still even to eat) until he crashes to sleep!
