Storm Isha - how are things in your road/garden?

Just peering outside and although we took the precaution of securing garden furniture it's carnage out there and part of the tree has come down but not near the house. Luckily we have garden walls not fences so no damage to those. How is it where you are?

One of our bins has blown over

PearChutney · 22/01/2024 07:22

@Tontostitis sounds like you got off lightly then!

Same

Haven't been out yet but heading off shortly so shall investigate...

itsgettingweird · 22/01/2024 07:33

Took ds to swim training at 4.30am did the bin chacane down my road and the next! Avoided a big bit of bush and a fence but otherwise the motorway was ok. Just very windy going over the bridge into the city as it was a cross wind!

Beezknees · 22/01/2024 07:36

Not been outside yet so not sure. I'm heading off to work soon. I'm in Nottingham, I don't think it's been as bad here as in other parts of the country but there's still a yellow warning for wind.

Letterbix · 22/01/2024 07:38

All our fences on one side are down. Such a ball ache and we will struggle to afford to get them fixed.

But everyone is ok and the house is still standing so it could be worse

PearChutney · 22/01/2024 07:38

Just seen on our village facebook that someone has gained a trampoline!

It sounded like the whole city was being destroyed but there's actually very little evidence that I can see.

ChanelNo19EDT · 22/01/2024 07:41

I had two green bins and I can only see one.

Garden chairs both in the garden but they slot together and seem to be in pieces. No idea if all the pieces are still there.

I hope this is the last bad storm until ... other side of this summer

Stressfordays · 22/01/2024 07:41

I'm missing my green bin, about it really.

SunnieShine · 22/01/2024 07:42

My fence is still down from a previous storm so at least I don't have to worry about that 😀

BoobyDazzler · 22/01/2024 07:42

I saw a rogue bucket in the road on my way to work.

That's what it sounded like here with loads of loud bangs and crashes - I expected it to be far worse than it actually was.

One fence panel down. Cat is in a mood. She doesn’t like wind.

MonsteraMama · 22/01/2024 07:55

One fence panel down, husband is going out grumbling to fix it so the dogs can go out.

We've lost a bin. A tree has come down in the field behind our house but luckily not hit anything of ours or neigbours. There's lots of twiggy and leafy debris everywhere.

Other than that all seems well. It sounded like a hurricane so I'm surprised there wasn't more carnage tbh!

EvilElsa · 22/01/2024 07:56

Garden and drive ok here (I've got a couple of massive trees in the garden but they are still standing with branches intact) and bins upright.
We definitely didn't get hit as hard as some were. I walked the dog at 9.30pm and it was windy and rainy but nothing too horrendous. Looking online there are some trees down locally, one outside a supermarket in the road, but nobody hurt thankfully. Hope everyone is OK and not suffering too much damage this morning.

PearChutney · 22/01/2024 08:06

The traffic is going past our house as normal so I don't think any trees down in our lane although we've had so many storms recently that I think any at risk trees had already gone down!

Deadringer · 22/01/2024 08:12

Everything seems OK outside but we have no Internet in the house for the last 24 hours, adult dc who usually work from home are not happy. We watched a Dvd last night, positively medieval!

catelynjane · 22/01/2024 08:12

Surprisingly okay considering how wild the weather was last night.

weebarra · 22/01/2024 08:16

Our trampoline, despite being tied down with the top bit flattened, swung across the garden and took out the whirligig.
There are a couple of trees blocking roads and I've had to get the bus into work in Edinburgh as the trains aren't running.

Namechangeforthis88 · 22/01/2024 08:18

Christmas trees all over the place.

Council were meant to collect Christmas trees on our street on Friday. They didn't. Citizens are instructed to leave waste out to be collected at next opportunity.

Also I'm sitting on a bus instead of cycling. I didn't mind the cold so much but I don't fancy my chances in a sudden gust at these speeds.

Maverickess · 22/01/2024 08:20

My main fence is still up but there's only one panel left on the bit between me and the neighbours, tied one bit up that was on it's way last night and that's stayed put thankfully, jeans over my PJ's and big coat and dogs round the block this morning for a pee because garden not safe for the escapologist JRT!
Most of it was done last night when I got home from work and so I tried to move it all where it wouldn't cause any more damage.
Bin has visited most parts of the garden and water butt joined it, and the base is missing.
Can't afford to get it fixed, will have to bodge what I can 🙈
