Vinted blocked my account - any advice or tips on wording the appeal??

Just received a message from Vinted saying my account has been blocked. This is due to a listing for an "unsafe item". This item is a type of anti dandruff shampoo that is available over the counter - brand new and sealed. I had a listing deleted a couple of weeks ago for an "unsafe item" and this was a personal moisturiser, freely available in any chemist or supermarket (new and securely sealed) These items have been listed for many, many months without issue.

I could (kind of) understand if they had simply deleted the shampoo and told me why, but to block my account?

I will appeal, of course, but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else, for what appears to be spurious reasons? Do you have any advice about how to go about the appeal? Obviously I'll point out that anyone can walk into any supermarket and purchase this item freely, but is there a specific way of wording the appeal?

Thanks in advance - this has really knocked me for six; was looking forward to making a few quid on all my old clothes that no longer fit! The shampoo and moisturiser were the only items that weren't clothing!

Hi no help I'm afraid but my partners was blocked for putting a t-shirt on it that was designer and they claimed it was fake because he hadn't put a photo of the label on the inside up (he's a bit dopey and relisted it again without showing all the tags) they have permenantly banned him there's no chance getting the account back as as far as we can tell its basically ai running it so once the computer says no that's it. There's so many things it's super strict on and you literally get no chances to redeem your account he spent weeks trying to contact an actual person and they told him he had breached terms and conditions and nothing he can do, It's dreadful for that loads of ppl on reddit complaining.

@Sprinkles211 - That's appalling. It makes no sense as they're shooting themselves in the foot by losing so much business. Suppose I'll have to just list everything on ebay as I used to. Vinted was great though because they didn't deduct fees from the selling price. I don't hold out much hope of getting my account unblocked but will appeal anyway.

Really sorry to hear it's happened to your partner too. And in his case, they should simply have let him know that he needed to include a photo of the label. Utterly crazy.

Do people actually buy moisturisers and shampoo on Vinted? Surely they’d just pop to the shops?

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 22/01/2024 16:13

@Soontobe60 , yes, they do, of course. But as I had a surplus of these items I decided to list them on Vinted, as well as ebay, alongside my clothing items. And I have listed them for a substantially cheaper price than available in the shops. Up to this point, they have been had a fair amount of interested and I have sold a couple of each.
