Bedroomconfig · 21/01/2024 20:07

Anyone up for helping with where everyone could sleep on a big family holiday I have coming up. People that are going on holiday are:

Great grandparent

2 x grandparents

Sibling and spouse plus one boy and one girl teenagers

Sibling and partner and 5yo son

Sibling and his teen daughter and 2 teen sons. Also his partner and her teen daughter.

Sibling and partner and small baby.

Bedrooms are as follows:

Bedroom 1: With bunk bed and en-suite with walk-in shower and toilet.
Bedroom 2: With double bed with single bunk over, bunk bed and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet.
Bedroom 3 With bunk bed.
Bedroom 4: With double bed with single bunk over.
Bedroom 5: With double bed with single bunk over.
Bedroom 6: With double bed with single bunk over.
Bedroom 7: With 5 sets of bunk beds.

I feel like it's a puzzle I can't quite get right!

Thanks

Are the 2 grandparents a couple of singles?

Bedroomconfig · 21/01/2024 20:16

No the grandparents are married to each other!

Have you decided how to split costs yet?

Yes, costs are sorted. Everyone paying per person.

Great grandparent in bunk with ensuite, grandparents in double with ensuite, everyone else will have to work it out. Maybe all teen-agers in 5 bunk room and everyone else spread around the remaining rooms

NewYear24 · 21/01/2024 20:22

I think get the grandparents sorted first and then work out what rooms are left.

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 21/01/2024 20:22

Was going to say Only easy one... bedroom 4 couple with 5y0. But don't they have to be 6 for top bunk?

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:23

There aren't enough double beds are there?

Which partners have agreed to sleep in bunk beds?

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:24

Bed 1 - GGP
Bed 2 - GPs

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:27

Can the GP's and GGP share bed 2?

Bedroomconfig · 21/01/2024 20:29

Yes all the oldies sharing bed 2 is a possibility for sure.

No, not enough doubles. And also not sure whether it's fair to expect mixed sex teens to share especially if not siblings?

I think we should sort out rooms before we get there as this has been a source of conflict before.

I would like to present a few options and see what everyone likes best. Or hates least!

OP posts:
PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:32

Well you don't have enough rooms really for multiple options

Bed 1 - Siblings teen daugter and his partners teen daughter
Bed 2 - GGP + GP's
Bed 3 - Sibling and his partner
Bed 4 - Sibling with Baby
Bed 5 - Sibling with 5 year old
Bed 6 - Sibling with the teen girl
Bed 7 - Teens boys x 3

cherrypickles · 21/01/2024 20:35

I'm intrigued as to who the siblings are and who their parents are?

I barely understand the OP

Are you one of the siblings? Are th grand parents your parents?

Fizzadora · 21/01/2024 20:37

You haven't got enough double beds so unless you have got an adult couple who are happy to have bunk beds (maybe bed 1 with the en suite) you need to find alternative accomodation.
GGP Bed 3
GP's Bed 2
Sib & spouse Bed 1
Sib, partner & 5yr old Bed 4
Sib & partner (teens) Bed 5
Sib, partner & baby Bed 6 with travel cot
All the teens Bed 7

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:38

Option 2

Bed 1 - GGP
Bed 2 - Sibling and partner, and the 2 teen boys
Bed 3 - Siblings teen daughter and his partners teen daughter
Bed 4 - GP's
Bed 5 - Sibling with baby
Bed 6 - Sibling with 5 year old
Bed 7 - Sibling with teen daughter

I mean none of the options are great, I wouldn't want to do it

InTheRainOnATrain · 21/01/2024 20:40

I’d put all the teens in the big bunk room. Bed 7. Basically a giant youth hostel and those are mix sex. They’re all cousins (I think) and can use the bathrooms for changing.

Bed 1 for GGP own their own. The rooms with doubles go to GPs, couple with baby (they should get the largest as need space for the travel cot), and couple with the 5YO.

The two siblings with teen children can fight is out for the remaining double room versus the bunk bed room. Toss a coin to make it fair?

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:42

It's a horrible layout for that mix of people - not enough rooms, not enough double beds, only 2 en suites

Bedroomconfig · 21/01/2024 20:49

Thanks all - accommodation can't be changed now. Not booked or arranged by me but there are lots of great things about it to be fair, it's just the sleeping arrangements aren't ideal. Sorry if anyone found it unclear was trying to give enough info without overcomplicating it..

Anyway, You've given me a few different options which is great.

Hopefully we can agree on the least worst!

Sibling and his teen daughter and 2 teen sons. Also his partner and her teen daughter

how well is this group integrated? Have they been living together for the last 10 years? Dating for a year?

it’s not clear if you can consider them a family unit.

Marblessolveeverything · 21/01/2024 20:51

I would never agree to my teen sharing with opposite sex and honestly mine wouldn't be happy to share with strangers, do they know each other.

Cousins or not I read not as there is partner of sib teen ? When you know who can share it would be easier to work out but I don't see teens happy sharing with what appears to be step parent/partner?

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:53

Another options

Bed 1 - Other sibling (who doesn't get a double)
Bed 2 - GGP and GP's
Bed 3 - For either GGP or the siblings partners daughter (if she doesn't want to share with the teenage boys)
Bed 4 - Sibling and baby
Bed 5 - Sibling and 5 year old
Bed 6 - Either of the other 2 siblings
Bed 7 - All teens

Bedroomconfig · 21/01/2024 20:53

Honestly pondering it's a bit complicated which doesn't help! Together a long time but living separately and not blended as a family.

OP posts:
MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 21/01/2024 20:55

It's going to get difficult parents are going to be paying the same for their child to be in a bunk bed in a room with strangers of the opposite sex using a communal bathroom as people getting a ensuite double bed?

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:57

OK well based on what you have just said about sibling and his partner

Bed 1
Bed 2 - GGP and GP's
Bed 3 - Siblings partner and her daughter
Bed 4 - sibling and baby
Bed 5 - sibling and 5 year old
Bed 6 - sibling and one teen - other teen in bed 1, or both teens in bed 1
Bed 7 - sibling, his teen daugter and 2 teens

PickledPurplePickle · 21/01/2024 20:58

If I was you I would stay nearby and leave them to it 😂
