What do you do to be the best version of yourself?

This year I want to be the best I can be. What are the healthiest meals you know, what hobbies do you do, what skincare do you use, what’s something you do every day to make your life a little better?

All of those things are massively subjective. I could tell you I love singing complicated polyphonic music (I do) but it’s a very niche hobby in the grand scheme of things. Won’t help you if you don’t like singing or complex music.
I don’t really bother with skincare beyond being clean. So that doesn’t help you either.
Healthiest meals - meat? Fish? Veggie? Vegan?

leaving aside that wanting to change every aspect of your life is unrealistic…

Good for you!

I carve out some time, every day, 'just for me'. Be it gym, reading or cooking.

Can you commit to making a new meal weekly perhaps? Or a new activity?

Good luck with your new habits.

Don't hit Kieran Culkin with a car when he's in a powerful mob family, for one.

I just try to do the best I can everyday

MarshaMarshaMarshmellow · 21/01/2024 20:10

Get enough sleep.

That makes ALL the difference.

Give myself grace.

There are things I do because I have learned that for me they make a difference to my mental and physical health. Regular swimming and hiking, gym, pilates.
Cooking from scratch with a variety of veg, mostly plant based food.

I have also learned that sometimes I don't give a toss and want to eat a lot of junk and sit in my arse. Both are equally valid, beating myself up because I 'should' have somehow done better never helped.

Hot water and lemon first thing daily.

Then a protein shake followed by a healthy breakfast.

Daily planking. Start small. I can do 4 minutes now and it feels so good!

Plant based eating. I made the switch in October last year and my iron levels have never been higher and I've never been healthier (blood test confirmed) or happier. It's changed my whole life.

I go running when I can

Cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day

Sunday evening treats / rituals e.g exfoliate, HIP chocolate, nails etc. I never thought I could be happy eating chocolate just once a week (I used to binge daily!) but much prefer this way now.

I've been teetotal for 7 years.

I am probably 'boring' to many but I'm happy and healthy and don't care what others think!

I have previously tried cold showers and gratitude journalling but struggled to stick to them. Am also terrible for going on my phone!

Skincare I do spf 50 daily and tretinoin. This combo is amazing and I get compliments on my skin all the time- been using two years and made a huge difference. Tretinoin is prescription only in the uk but you can get subscriptions from dermatica or skin&me online.

I also find if I pick up a book rather than scroll on my phone I feel better

Regular bedtime and wake times.
Gave up booze
Walk EVERYWHERE
Kettlebell swings everyday
Eat little and often
Got a new pet
Keep toxic people to a minimum
Keep TV to a minimum
Colour my hair so I feel better

booksandbrooks · 21/01/2024 22:32

Drink water, stretch, eat whole foods.

take a walk every day. Find a tree and watch it change over the year.

blackpanth · 21/01/2024 22:34
