Can Anyone Recommend Any Where to stay in Amsterdam?

DH and I are planning to have a mini break in Amsterdam in April and I just wondered if anyone on MN could recommend anywhere to stay? We can't decide whether to book an AirBnB or stay in a hotel. We are travelling by Eurostar so something near the station would be good. Budget is no more than £1000 for accommodation for the 3 nights (but less would be good!).

Hotel Estherea - excellent hotel, on one of the main canals. Mildly crazy decor, but incredibly comfortable, good breakfast and well located.
