So proud of my daughter

just want to shout out about my daughter 😁, she’s a veterinary nurse and was on an evening shift last night, 6 - 12. Emergency came in and required surgery, she finally came home at 7.45 this morning, that’s a 13 1/2 hour shift with minimal breaks literally a drink of tea on the go. The poor dog doesn’t look good and his prognosis isn’t good this morning, but that team worked so hard to try and save her. Just 3 of them on shift, keeping other patients stable over night as well as doing their best for this loved pet. People complain about how much vets charge, and the NHS get so much support, but the veterinary world get nothing but moaning about fees.

im so proud of her.

I have only ever found vets and vet nurses to be absolutely saintly in their care for animals. I don’t get all the moaning about fees. Good care costs. I will never forget a vet who saved my cat’s life twice and enabled him to have 4 more happy years. Priceless.

I’m proud of your daughter, too!

Well done your daughter. A difficult and sometimes heartbreaking job. I hope the dog makes it 🙏

Yes, I only have good things to say about vets and vet nurses too (apart from a snobby locum vet one time).
What I do find sad is that vets both local and referral practices, have been taken over by large corporates. The owner of our vets retired and the small group of 3 was sold to a chain. They have less staff working there, shorter appointment times and it does have a corporate air about the place. Younger vets can no longer afford to set up their own practices like they used to.

My vets and vet nurses have always been lovely. It's nice that they appreciate how important people's pets are to them.
Well done to your daughter, OP, what a rewarding (if tiring) job she has.
