How to contact mil's gp about her visits

Janniss543 · 21/01/2024 01:14

My MIL died last year.
She was diagnosed with lung cancer 8 weeks before she died. Told it was terminal etc no treatment given
She had, however, spent 3 years prior to this going back and forth to the gp with back pain which she described as being in her lungs. Antibiotics and steroids were prescribed over the 2 years but No further investigating was done, no blood tests, no xrays, scans etc
Nothing at all. We found out her diagnosis as she was taken to a&e for other reasons and the tumours were discovered there.
I want to find out about her gp visits , what was said and the reasons that she was not treated beyond the above etc. I do not know where to start. I Believe her death may have been prevented/ illness been treated had her symptoms been looked into when she first visited her gp
Where do I start?
Thanks

I think her next of kin needs to request her medical files so whoever that is would need to phone the gp surgery and find out how to go about that.

Does she have living children? Isn't this up to them?

Why should the Op be after compensation money? Or be entitled to any? Or think they were entitled to any?

Surely it is many times more likely they are after answering unanswered questions, justice, and protecting other vulnerable patients?
