That really. Keep seeing these big cup with straw things, have I missed something?

Yep, just a big insulated cup with a straw that fits in cup holder.

KarenNotAKaren · 20/01/2024 19:36

Right I was wondering why I was suddenly hearing about the Stanley cup so much - I thought it was a sports award!

Dotchange · 20/01/2024 19:38

Ah, different Stanley cup to the hockey playoff trophy 😁

Posypointshoes · 20/01/2024 19:39

They’ve been around for a while but influencers got hold of them last year and tiktok went mad for it. It’s now become an example of seriously gross consumerism particularly in America where people have entire walls dedicated to displaying their Stanley cup collection.

theyre fine as insulated cups but the hype around them is something else.

AuroraForever · 20/01/2024 19:41

Oversized toddler sippy cups for adults.

Scutterbug · 20/01/2024 19:43

Don’t get the hype, they’re huge? Would look ridiculous in my little Kia picanto’s drink holder!

I thought that - I’m not that thirsty when I’m on the go and it’s a totally impractical bottle for the gym.

edwinbear · 20/01/2024 20:57

The only possible use I can see for them, is keeping beer/cocktails/wine cold by the pool on holiday. Although I’d be completely shit faced if I drank that much wine by the pool in the afternoon!

Rosiiee · 20/01/2024 21:01

I love mine 🙈 I don’t take it out of the house though because it’s far too big!

I don’t like using a normal glass because dog hair always manages to get in if I leave it on the table during the day. Also I like to keep track of how much I’m drinking.

mrsbyers · 20/01/2024 21:06

Love mine , yes it’s a trend thing but who cares if people enjoy using them

Just got some little bears as straw covers and makes me smile

Rosiiee · 20/01/2024 21:12

@mrsbyers oh I got some little bears from Amazon too! Waiting for them to arrive! Anything to keep the dog hair from getting in my water 😂

MeinKraft · 20/01/2024 21:16

It does make me smile that Stanley is now a trendy brand. I'm fairly sure both my grandfathers took Stanley flasks to work in the 1980s.

coxesorangepippin · 20/01/2024 21:19

Hockey thing

MumOfOneAwesomeHuman · 20/01/2024 21:21

Dd got one at Xmas and she's drinking twice the amount of water she was before so I just bought a dupe for me and I have to say, I'm drinking loads more too! I think it's having a huge cup with a big straw and not having to refill a glass. I just take it up to my office and that's my days water then refill for the evening. 2 litres + done!

Itislate · 20/01/2024 21:25

another silly fad

FigureItOutt · 20/01/2024 21:30

Actually have one for office and one for home. Just require one fill up per day and you know you've had your water intake. Keeps it cold and fresh, pleasant to hold.

They are 'faddy' but lots of things start that way then settle into just useful/ practical/ fit for purpose for what you want

grafittiartist · 20/01/2024 21:37

I also thought it was hockey related!

Comfysock · 20/01/2024 21:38

One site says £44 another £100 😲

Just buy an insulated cup with a straw, Homesense/TK Maxx have loads. Stanley is trendy but they don’t perform much different to any of the others.

Ozgirl75 · 20/01/2024 22:21

another one thinking it was merch from a hockey tournament.

KeepSmiling89 · 24/01/2024 15:20

It just reminds me of Waynes World 2 when Garth says he got his copy of "The history of the Stanley Cup: 100 Years of Glory"!
