Weekly meal planning

I really want to try to shop for a whole week in one go (online) to be more efficient with time and also money. At the moment we get an ocado delivery at the weekend and then I end up in the shops on weds or Thurs getting topups of things that are either cheaper in the shop than on ocado or just things that I didn't think of or got as far as planning that far ahead in the week.

But trying to plan a whole week seems mentally draining! Doesn't help matters that I've got one child with special needs currently on a restricted diet and under a dietician, and another one veggie so I usually make 2-3 different meals a night although all at the same time so not too bad!

Can you tell me if you meal plan for the week how do you have the headspace to do it and any tips?

This is as far as I've got this week...as I said there's usually 2-3 meals a night

Sun... shepherds pie/ sausage and mash / mac and cheese

Mon... spaghetti meatballs/spaghetti and plain tomato sauce

Tues... chicken fajitas (some plain chicken some sauce type fajitas). Quorn nuggets and wraps.

Weds.... chicken chow mein / plain chicken and noodles / just noodles and soy sauce.

No idea on Thursday this is where I usually pick up something from the shop.

Fri always pizza night

Saturday again I usually pick up something from the shop or we get a takeaway.

So I'm planning for around half the week which isn't bad but would like to do a full week!

It gets easier. Keep a list of meals and then eventually you can pick from the list. Some people do Monday - meat free, Tuesday - pasta etc.

If ocado is so expensive try a different online delivery service.

Also why 3 meals a night? I do one veggie version and one meat version so one veggie and one meat sausage or one veggie and one shepherd pie.

Could you not make a sort of pie with sliced sausages in gravy topped with mash to compromise?

Same meal twice a week? I've had to cook alternative dinners for ASD DD for years and it's really draining. She grown up now thankfully and makes her own concoctions.
