Meal for a 70th Birthday

It's my Dads 70th in July. We are looking for somewhere special to take him but everywhere I'm looking at seems to have poor reviews since we last went.

Criteria are:
6 adults (2 are teens 18&19)
Good food , but one of the teens is a bit fussy, so steak/burger option would be good

Price isn't really an issue, looking at higher end, but doesn't need to be £££. Location wise not fussed as we have the weekend so can travel, but England/Wales as Scotland is a bit far.

We have been to the Crazy Bear and Sketch before and thought something like this would go down well with the teens.

Can anyone help with suggestions please? I've seen some great ideas in the past but can't find them anywhere.

Surely you dad is the one that matters?

The teens need to fit in.

Surely you want somewhere close to where you and your dad lives and pick what he likes

afromom · 19/01/2024 21:18

Yes that's my view too, but my Dad just keeps saying I just want everyone to be together!
I've actually just said to him let's just look for something for us and the kids can just fit in, but he's said no we need to find something to entertain the kids.

Dig a bit deeper into what he's liked in the past going out for a meal wise. I think I can say I'm sure in recommending a nice pub, good food? Why pay more for a la carte if he's not interested? If he is of course different story. Just somewhere comfortable, taking your time, the teens will join in yet distract themselves as always lol 😆

Have you got an Ivy Restaurant near you?

afromom · 19/01/2024 21:49

Yes we have an Ivy restaurant in Cheltenham near us and go quite often. But that sort of menu would probably work.

He's just suggested the zipworld zip line. So we are looking into that. But I'm not sure how many of the party will take part. If that's what he wants though I'm up for it.

He does like fine dining and also seafood. They lived in London for years and ate at nice restaurants often, so definitely looking for nicer places.

Zip world is really good but not great for places to eat.

Petit Coco in Cheltenham is wonderful. That is our go too for a cosy celebration.
