They can be "made safe" if necessary, in a comfortable jail cell with a locked door made of bars, so easy line of sight, and communication, but they cannot reach you. Translators provided.

I would love a conversation with William the conqueror. He was an incredible man. Or to know what Shakespear was like as a person. Or someone from so far back we don't even know when they lived, like the famous "Wem" of "Wembly" fame - who even was he? What was his life like?

I’d like to meet William Marshall and the real Ultred of Bamburgh castle.

SmilingMoon · 19/01/2024 18:30

I'd like to see and speak to Jesus Christ face to face. The most excellent, wise, authoritative, humble man that ever walked the earth.

Vera Atkins. SOE agent ww2. I'm fascinated by her, and all the women agents.

Absolutely, he would be my pick. I’m not religious at all, but he has had more influence over more people’s lives than anyone else in history. I’d be fascinated to see if he was worth it.

And just imagine if he was, that would be a mind fuck and a half.

3kidsaremorethanenough · 19/01/2024 20:12

Thomas Cromwell.

I'd like to ask him if he felt any remorse for what he did to Anne Boylen. And did he really think he would eventually become King.

Brahumbug · 19/01/2024 20:17

Sir Richard Burton, he would have so many stories to tell and so much was lost after his death when his wife burnt his papers.😞

PermanentTemporary · 19/01/2024 20:26

Geoffrey Chaucer. I'd like to go to the pub with him and hear a few yarns.

MoonWoman69 · 19/01/2024 20:42

Alfred Hitchcock. He had my sense of humour!

EveryKneeShallBow · 19/01/2024 20:57

I’d like to meet Jesus. Also, someone who was ahead of her/his time and not recognised by their peers. To tell them they’re not wrong and will one day change the world.

LaDamaDeElche · 19/01/2024 21:07

Jim Morrison.

I'm the same re William Marshall. What a journey and what a man.

PubicZirconia · 19/01/2024 21:16

Anne Boleyn or Catherine de Medici

SunflowerSeeds123 · 19/01/2024 21:19

Agatha Christie. If'd ask where she went during her disappearance. She probably wouldn't tell me though.

ApolloandDaphne · 19/01/2024 21:28

I'd love to chat with Einstein and discuss his theories and how he worked it all out.

WishesPromises · 19/01/2024 21:31

Either Emmeline Pankhurst or Jessica Mitford.

GinBooksChocs · 19/01/2024 21:36

Boudica. For taking on the Romans.

Isseywith3witchycats · 19/01/2024 21:36

If i had to pick one person it would be Martin Luther King he was right in the middle of the civil rights years in America and i should imagine would be a fasinating person to talk to, if i could pick two people second choice would be charles dickens as he was such a social commentator through his books

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/01/2024 21:39

I'd like to know who Jack the Ripper was, truth be told. Can I meet him?

lljkk · 19/01/2024 23:29

Da Vinci?
I struggle to pick a "most".

I mean, J the R was probably a creep I'd wish I never met within 5 minutes.
QEI was probably vain & blinkered and naive & sincere.
BenFranklin was probably full of himself.
Lincoln we know what he wrote, probably as sombre as he seems.

All human & full of faults.

I'll plump for some ancient world long-period powerful person, Mayan, Aztec, Babylonianm, Incan or any of those mystery civilisations or Egyptian (eg Nefertiti) we don't properly understand who they were or how they saw the world. As different as possible from how we are now.

o yes, we'll lock him securely in that cell - you'll be quite safe. How would you know which language translator to requisition though? Could be anything. We will need to have google translate on stand by

Julius Ceasar or another roman emperor after her had some time to see what is going on with modern society. I don't get how advanced the romans were.
