Rash

MrsPerfect12 · 19/01/2024 14:40

My DS seems to get this rash with the cold. The first one this winter was in October and now just back from holiday (hot) and it's happened again. This year far far worse than previous years.

Nothing helped the last time except a steroid cream from the doctor. The doctor gave me Epimax cream and ointment to try but that seems to make the skin dry out worse - see last photo.

I use the same body wash/ washing powder etc so I'm sure it's not that.

Just wondered if any other child has had similar and what worked to try and avoid the steroid creams.

incase it's not clear from the photos - the rash always starts as dots and spreads up and covers torso, arms and face.

Gosh that last one looks so sore, poor boy.

He must be miserable with that.
I wouldn't wait for Monday - unless he's seen a GP recently, I'd call 111 asap.

Cold Urticaria?
Antihistamines help if you take them before you go out.
Moisturiser and steroid cream if it has already developed. HTH

MrsPerfect12 · 20/01/2024 21:54

I'll try the Antihistamines hopefully that will prevent a future flair up. I've got some steroid cream so hopefully it calms down in a few days.

If anyone has any suggestions of an alternative cream that isn't a steriod. I would be willing to try.

Hi

I know this is an old thread but did you find a solution as my ds has the same?

MrsPerfect12 · 01/06/2025 22:34

@Matcurtainlamp We got a Steroid cream to bring it under control and used epimax ointment. Its cold urticaria so I have to manage it all throughout winter using a combination of products. Its tricky but this year was much better controlled as we knew what to expect.
