Argos state collection after 5, why

I'm looking at buying something from Argos in Sainsbury's today. When I look online it says I can pay now and collect after 17:00, it seems a bit weird as either they have it in stock or they don't. Why would it need to be after 17:00? I assume they can't be getting it from another location in that time frame, or am I wrong?

If I just went to the store without ordering online, how likely are they to just have it available right away? Do s anyone know? Thanks.

They get daily deliveries, if it's in stock it let's you order and collect straight away. It will say after 4/5pm if they have to wait for a delivery.

Aha, thanks. That's really useful to know. I'm surprised as deliveries are normally in the morning.

They quite often have it transferred from another local store. This is separate to normal deliveries.

I work in a sainsburys with an instore Argos. Their delivery vans come in at various times during the day so it sounds like your item is going to be on an afternoon delivery van.

Yeah, it’s really common. They move stuff so it gets to your store.

A lot of stock is kept in larger off site warehouses now. That's why they can manage with just being in a corner of Sainsbury's.

It's because they are waiting for a late delivery and know it'll be there
Asda do this too
