silly situation at work

I’m a line manager. I started managing someone 6 months ago and we get on really well. We’re the same age, he’s really kind, we are both single. I get the impression there’s mutual attraction there - he does try to get to know me, has asked for my social media, has given me compliments, but has not outright asked me out unless it’s with a group.

Nothing at all has happened - I’m professional at work - only speak to him when necessary about work and don’t speak to him outside of work. We live in different areas and don’t work in the same office, so I’ve only seen him a couple of times in person.

i feel it’s unprofessional to date someone you manage, so I’m just looking for advice on nipping my own crush on him in the bud? It’s difficult as we need to work together quite closely so I know I’ll speak to him daily for the foreseeable - I can’t completely distance myself to get over it

Cold showers and limit contact as you are.

Can you somehow get him shifted into a different team though? Then presumably you could.

lol! Well I'm not going to do anything with him regardless but I have been encouraging him to apply for jobs as he’s ready for promotion. In my company, you have to apply for promotion - it’s not just given and it’s difficult to otherwise shift people around.

He's using you as a stepping stone in his career.
