Air con or no air con?

For context we are adding two kids rooms into the loft. House faces south and we are in a terraced house in Cambridge. I'm at a crossroads with whether to bother with air con. It's expensive £2.5k+...but I don't want to spend ££££ on the loft conversion for it to be unusable in the hot summers. WWYD?

Air con. My pil converted theirs a few years ago, the rooms are unbearable in the summer.

I would. I think it will be unbearable otherwise.
