I've got Covid. I usually run on mugs of tea, but tea currently tastes vile to me. I've been drinking hot Ribena - but I really only like the full sugar made strong, so both expensive and not particularly good for me, and that's starting to taste cloying too. I've tried orange juice - tastes odd, but not as bad as tea, plain water but that is boring, but I do need to stay hydrated! I really don't fancy coffee

Any drinks I've not thought of that might not taste odd to me?

Green tea , fruit tea, hot milk

Peggyblumquist · 18/01/2024 17:38

Ginger tea. Hope you feel better soon.

PandaG · 18/01/2024 17:41

Thanks both. A ginger tea might hit the spot.

Rooisbosch. Tastes a bit kind of nutty and can be drunk with milk.
You might hate it but it's worth a try. There's an Earl Grey version that I find particularly refreshing and good when I'm avoiding ordinary tea for any reason. Oh it's also marketed at Red Bush.

TheBitterBoy · 18/01/2024 17:42

Hot chocolate, mint tea?

Babymamamama · 18/01/2024 17:43

When I’m unwell with Covid I always sip hot orange squash. It stops the tickly throat and weirdly refreshing. Worth a try?

TheGreyRockess · 18/01/2024 17:45

Ginger cordial (the Belvoir one) and soda water.
Roses Lime juice and soda (maybe not good for teeth).
Peach tea.
Fevertree.

Homemade lemon barley water.

Ormally · 18/01/2024 17:46

Coconut water. It's apparently a bit of a laxative though so be careful. But was the only thing that felt hydrating at the very thirsty end of Covid.

mindutopia · 18/01/2024 17:48

Horlicks or hot chocolate.

Mint tea

Hot borvil?

RinklyRomaine · 18/01/2024 17:50

Bovril
Peppermint tea
Chai teabags
Osem chicken soup mix with hot water

PandaG · 18/01/2024 17:51

Thanks for some brilliant suggestions. I'm fuzzy headed from covid too, and have ear and sinus pain, so probably not thinking straight either. Very little coughing though!

Sainsbury orange, lemon and pineapple squash hot. It is what I drink all winter.

ThreeRingCircus · 18/01/2024 17:54

I tend to drink the orange (still) lucosade when I'm feeling rotten.

AdaColeman · 18/01/2024 18:14

Another idea, Hot beef consommé served with buttered toast soldiers.

loudbatperson · 18/01/2024 18:20

I drunk a lot of lemon and ginger tea when my taste was recovering from Covid.

I had to avoid anything lime flavoured but loved lemon.

idontlikealdi · 18/01/2024 18:29

Wine...

Seriously though I hope you get the taste back, I was a coffee fiend but haven't been able to drink it since covid, in 2021.

purplecorkheart · 18/01/2024 18:30

Something like a berry fruit tea. Could you steep fruit in boiled water?

headcheffer · 18/01/2024 18:48

Peach iced tea. The super strong one ready made in a 1.5l
Bottle from Lidl
