Hi all

Potential move to Moray Scotland.

Very grateful if anyone could let me know about living here - especially Military family.

Thank you

We are in Aberdeenshire about thirty min drive to moray border. The whole area is beautiful. Elgin area and Lossiemouth have a micro climate and can be slightly warmer. Beaches are beautiful, great community all over and stunning scenery.

We moved here just over two years ago from central England. I was warned about harsh long winters and lack of sun. Honestly we are snowed in just now but I love it. It’s cold and it does get dark earlier but even the darkest dreich (as locals say) day, it is by far superior to the loveliest day where I’m from!

I grew up there and still have family in the area.

Nice beaches and coastal villages to visit as a holidaymaker, along with the whisky trail and castles.

The towns are shadows of their former selves (Elgin, Forres etc). Lots of houses being built but very little in way of jobs if you don't work in Military, distilleries etc. Everything else is based around the service industry and poorly paid.

Decent chance of seeing the Northern Lights, dolphins in the Moray Girth and the Cullen Skink is sublime!

Hi,

I was wondering if you ended up moving to Moray ?

We are looking at a job there and a move from NZ.

We have family in Glasgow but might consider moving to Moray (Elgin) if it was a great place to live.
We have a 13yr old, 11yr old and 6yr old.. is there enough there to keep kids happy as they grow up? Or do you think it's better to choose the Scotlands central belt?

Thanks,
Hayley
