Emetophobe hand hold please ☹️

Yesterday I was in close contact with someone with a sickness bug. I have very bad emetophobia so this is a nightmare for me.
I’ve felt a bit ill all day, not sure if it’s psychosomatic or not. Still not feeling well now, stomach is churning and I am terrified about what may be to come.

I don’t know what to do. I have cyclizine but last time I had a sickness bug and took an antiemetic I felt horrendous all night then v*ed at 5am when it wore off. But on the other hand this time it might stop it happening.

I am just terrified and could do with a hand hold. No one in real life knows how much this scares me ☹️

I have emetophobia so I understand how you're feeling!

Until 8pm. I work in a hospital and they were actively vomiting and ill. I was obsessive about hygiene but still terrified. I feel sick but that could be the anxiety. I can’t see me sleeping tonight.

Don't take the tablet. If you do get ill it's much better to get it out of the way quickly as otherwise you'll be feeling ill and worrying for longer.

You did everything you could not to catch it and so it's all completely out of your control now. Focus on keeping yourself healthy and strong. Maybe lie in bed and watch something comforting (I like Friends) and you might drop off in the night. Eat something small and dry and keep hydrated.

Have you got the Dare anxiety app? They have some good free stuff on there and talked me down out of a panic attack. Also have a look for free anxiety hypnosis on YouTube.

I take a bowl to bed, a damp flannel and a drink of water to hand, plus a bottle of lemonade for when I'm recovering a bit.
