Bath or shower debate

pastypirate · 17/01/2024 20:09

Can you settle a debate? We are refurbing a bathroom in a holiday let. Dp thinks it should be bath with shower over. I think walk in shower all the way. Agent suggests double shower!!!
It's a dinky cottage.

bath with shower.

best of both worlds

dudsville · 17/01/2024 20:26

We love baths so always make sure there's one in the places we book.

Glitterbaby17 · 17/01/2024 20:27

Is it more of a couples/adults place or are you marketing to families with young kids?

Bath with shower 100%

newtovanlife · 17/01/2024 20:28

Bath with shower (assuming its the only bathroom) will work better for young families (assuming you want to let to those).

PuttingDownRoots · 17/01/2024 20:28

Shower.
Bath showers aren't good for those with mobility problems

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/01/2024 20:30

Double shower.

SittingOnTheChair · 17/01/2024 20:31

Shower!

HairyQueenofSnots · 17/01/2024 20:31

Showers.

As pp said, baths rule out anyone with mobility issues.

Simonjt · 17/01/2024 20:31

Shower, its more accessible so won’t put off older visitors or those with mobility issues.

blackpanth · 17/01/2024 20:32

Bath with shower 🚿

SnowsFalling · 17/01/2024 20:33

Who is your market?

I'd listen to the agent. But if you want families with young kids, a bath.

C00kp1ssBabtridge · 17/01/2024 20:33

Bath with shower. I will only book a room/place with a bath when we go away as it's easier to get relaxation time than when we're at home

ShowOfHands · 17/01/2024 20:35

I won't book if there's no bath.

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 17/01/2024 20:36

I always look to rent places with a bath so that I can relax and pamper and I think a bath is more family friendly too but as others have said a shower is more accessible.

I suppose it depends, is the property likely to be rented by families (if one bed probably not) and is it accessible for those with mobility problems (stairs to property/narrow or steep stairs inside)?

Frasers · 17/01/2024 20:36

In my own home we had this argument, we put a lovely claw foot bath in, it’s an expensive ornament. I’d have went with just a shower, but my husband felt s family home needed a bath. I think if you can afford this house you can put your own bath back in. Hey ho.

in a holiday home, I’d do shower over bath though, as some folks do like a bath and are more likely to have one on a holiday, especially if they aren’t paying for the water.

Mrsgreen100 · 17/01/2024 20:37

Same needs both tbh
agent is I guess male and younger ?

GrumpyPanda · 17/01/2024 20:38

Bath is non-negotiable.

Frasers · 17/01/2024 20:39

ronoi · 17/01/2024 20:37

What? Why would you not book somewhere if they have a bath, do you have a phobia?

ToothFairy2023 · 17/01/2024 20:40

Go for who you are marketing the place at if a younger clientele go for an upmarket flash shower if families bath with shower over it. If older crowd shower with possibly a shower seat.

NewYearNewNameOldMe · 17/01/2024 20:42

Entirely depends on your potential customers. If you allow dogs but don't have a bath to clean a muddy dog in, that will put people off. Until recently my child would only have a bath, never a shower, so I looked at holiday lets on that basis. Older clients or people with mobility limitations will probably prefer a walk in shower. If you can't have both, choose carefully as it will make a difference.

reluctantbrit · 17/01/2024 20:45

Depends on your target guests.

Families - will look for a bath
Couples - I would say most would prefer a good walk-in shower to a bath

We taught DD to shower from the time she was able to stand securely, made our life so much easier. But it only worked if the shower was big enough for two without these ridiculous tiny corner units.
But we also liked having a bath as it meant she could wind down or just to spend some time in it on a rainy day.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2024 20:47

If it's in an area where people may be doing a lot of walking then definitely a bath.

Filamumof9 · 17/01/2024 20:52

I would choose for bath and shower. Having a bath whenever I am travelling is something I cam really look forward too as I don't have one at home. Also one of the few ways I really get warm as I travel from abroad so always feel cold in the UK. Had some stays without bath and I stood under the shower for over an hour just to get warm.
