OAP divorce

My mother started divorce against my father a few years ago. The issue is that the divorce is not really contested but there is still no conclusion to the divorce. My father was an alcoholic so he wasn't engaging with the process for a long time. My mothers solicitor is useless. He might send a letter once or twice a year and to be honest there probably isn't much he can do without any instructions from my mother. The last time they talked was last summer and he gave her an instruction for more paper work but her never sent the paper work to her and she never followed it up. She's also happy to let it slide into the background and ignore it now too. It's just so so so stupid and silly. The pair of them are dragging out a legal process but won't really engage with it.

I asked my mother to contact her solicitor and move the divorce along but she won't phone her solicitor and she's happy to ignore it.

Are they separated?

Maybe your mother is happy with this and does not need a formal divorce, and that it why she is not bothered about pushing it along.

They are separated for many years.

Leave them to it?

There was some financial issues to sort out between the two of them and a divorce was supposed to get things finalised between the two of them.

Clue is in the words "between the two of them"
