What made you decide to have a third DC?

I know this topic comes up all the time on MN and I’ve read so many threads on it! I know all the logical reasons why we should stick at two, but my heart would love a third.

So for those of you who did decide to have a third DC, what ultimately made you decide to go for it?

I know on paper it seems sensible to stick at two, but surely not everyone can regret having a third as I do see plenty of three child families.

Because I wanted a whole bunch of kids. I waited till we had two for a while to make sure that there was plenty of spare energy, time and money to go around and then pulled the trigger.

I was one of three, as was dh and I think we both felt like that worked, like a manageable tribe - so I suppose that was a factor there somewhere. I really love the whole shebang of raising children, well at least once the dreadful newborn phase is behind me, and I was excited to have another member of the family to be part of our life. My oldest children are teens now and it still works great for us, it feels vibrant and busy, full of conversation and shared interests.

I'm a fan but it's not for everyone. It is expensive and it is far easier with two invested, family oriented parents.
