Anxiety before work training events

I seem to get worked up and anxious days before attending such as not being able to sleep and on edge but once I’m there, I’m nervous, but I manage to get on with it. I hate when they make us roleplay or have to present, that’s what I’m most anxious off as I hate being watched by others and I can feel my heart pounding but still somehow manage to remain composed. I need to attend one in a few weeks time and can already feel my anxiety building up. Does anyone else get like this or have any tips on how to manage this?

What’s your anxiety like in general? Things like beta blockers can help with the physical symptoms eg increased heart rate etc.

If you find that anxiety is creeping in to other areas of your life you could try CBT. I found it massively helpful during a sudden episode of anxiety

It's called anticipatory anxiety. Things I have tried which have helped are distraction, by keeping busy or sometimes I tell myself I haven't got time to worry about it today, I'll worry tomorrow, and carry on doing that right up to the event. Also a lot can happen in two weeks, what if the event for whatever reason got cancelled at the last minute you'd have spent those weeks worrying for nothing.

Generally I’m ok, it’s just whenever there’s work related training which involves talking infront of peers that makes me anxious. Tbh I was like this at school too, hated putting my hand up etc

Thank you, at least there is a name for it. I’ve tried preoccupying myself with other things and trying to forget about it but it’s still niggling at the back of my mind. I’ll be glad once it’s over and done with!
