We're going away for the weekend to a rented house next month to celebrate DH's 40th, along with a group of friends. I've asked his friends to send me funny photos of DH through the years which I'm going to make into a poster.

Just wondered if anyone has any ideas for other things like this I could do?

Loosely associated pub quiz?

Some DH things, round from the year they were born, round on their favourite sports team / music / hobby, a picture round of funny pictures?

When we went away to celebrate a milestone birthday for a family member last year, we were each asked to take a wrapped gift and put it in a box upon arrival. No tag, just a gift. We then had a lovely session one of the afternoons (our group was the same size as yours) where the birthday girl opened all gifts and they had to try and guess which person had brought which gift. The fun and lovely part is that the gift can be something really small and insignificant to most, but between that person and the birthday person it had some significance or provoked a lovely memory or a funny tale. One of the friends from the group wrapped a scarf... when it was opened the birthday person was confused as it was a scarf she'd "lost" years ago! It wasn't lost, it was borrowed many years earlier by the friend and got too late to return 😂 It was hilarious! Another person wrapped a photo from a holiday from many years ago of the two of them and they spoke about that time away together. It took a good hour to go through everyone's gifts and was lovely.
