Gender ring test while pregnant

I know this is an old wives tale, one my mum lived by may I add. Unfortunately she is no longer here to ask, but, do any of you know how this worked? I know you need a ring and thread, do you need to have a bump for this to work? And does it swing or spin for boy or girl?

I don't think you need a Bump. I was always told swing for a boy. Circle for a girl.

You can use either, but it was always a tradition to see how many children you would have rather than just when pregnant. It would have to be someone else doing the swinging if that makes sense, you can’t do it to yourself.

Well of course you can, as it’s a load of rubbish, but I remember it being fun when we were children!

Oh, and you do it over your hand, not stomach. Think it’s the same vein as fortune telling with the lines on your hand.

Chain or string. It was right both times for me. Might do it again to see if I'm due any more children based on what @Wictc said. Will my previous children not be counted? Or do I ignore the first 2 results do you think?

Oh and FWIW my friend was always told that swing = girl and circle = boy. So the opposite to me.

🤣 my mum waited till we were adults to have fun in these sort of old wives tales. Mum would never have dreamt of doing this when children, she saw us as innocent and sweet and forever wanted to keep us that way 😇

I think we’re talking of different ones, this was definitely over tummy and definitely to determine gender of baby.
