Vinted - delivery delays

Delatron · 16/01/2024 10:54

Not had this problem before now. Have an increasingly irate buyer. I sent the parcel on the 10th Jan, the day of the sale. Have the receipt and tracking information. Now Yodel are saying there’s a delay, it’s stuck in transit and may not turn up until 31st Jan. Then the buyer can raise an issue if it doesn’t turn up.

Buyer getting cross and saying no delivery updates, I’ve updated them
constantly. Can they cancel the order and then what would happen to the parcel? I kind of understand their frustration but the issue is with Yodel and not me. Worried about my reviews!

There’s nothing you can do but wait for Yodel to find it or declare it lost and Vinted refund you both. You’ve upheld your side of things so there’s no point the buyer getting the hump or worse.

I do understand - I have over 125 reviews and recently had an absolutely batshit buyer in a very similar vein. She did leave trashy feedback with one star, which I replied to politely going over (again) what had actually happened, BUT it hasn’t actually taken me below 5.0 on my feedback overview because it operates basically on a rounded average.

So don’t worry too much about that. It’s a hazard of selling on these platforms - every once in a while statistically you’re going to come across someone vile. The vast majority seem entirely normal and pleasant!

edited as hit ‘post’ too soon

Thanks @Brackhurst beginning to think it’s not worth it over a small amount of money!

Can you query a bad review?

OP posts:
Brackhurst · 16/01/2024 11:26

You can’t query it but you can reply to it underneath and put your side across. The key is always remaining polite, calm and factual.

Whataretheodds · 16/01/2024 11:35

So long as you keep communicating with them, and raising the issue with Yodel then the buyer can't reasonably complain that any of it is your fault.

Brackhurst · 16/01/2024 11:36

Don’t feel you need to keep raising it with Yodel - they’ll just send you back to Vinted and it won’t make a blind bit of difference as to whether they find it or not anyway.

I've got a similar problem, posted the parcel last week , I then had a message saying it couldn't be delivered so it's being returned to me ! When I receive it , the buyer will get a refund so now I've got the buyer messaging me to ask if the parcel has come back to me yet as they want their refund. I'm still waiting but the strange thing is the other parcels I sent at the same time were delivered with no issues so I don't know what's going on .

There’s nothing you can do plus she bought the label, not you so her contract for the postage is with Yodel/Vinted so I’m not sure what she expects. It is either lost and she will get refunded or it’ll turn up and is just a slow postage week. At this point I would just ignore her. She might give bad feedback but a bad feedback about postage wouldn’t put me off as most people know it’s out of the sellers control.

35965a · 16/01/2024 11:55

If the parcel is lost and she gets refunded the sale is ‘cancelled’ so she won’t be able to leave a review. If it’s delivered to her she will be able to, but (as I said above) one bad review will not put people off, especially if it’s for postage delays.

35965a · 16/01/2024 11:56

Plus you can leave a bad one back. I’m petty and I would leave her the same amount of stars she leaves you.

TheFormidableMrsC · 16/01/2024 11:57

I've just had a Yodel parcel take nearly a month to turn up. The seller did contact them via web chat and they did help locate it. I'd do that if that if you can. It's a bloody nuisance!

Delatron · 16/01/2024 12:23

Thanks all - some good info that I did not know! I don’t want the faff of trying to speak to Yodel over £13!

It’s actually a bloke so maybe that’s
why I’m feeling edgy. I also feel bad as it’s a puffer coat so he probably wants it for this weather! Not my fault though.

Wonder if there’s an issue with Yodel at the moment? Annoying as that’s the easiest for me as the shop is next door! It’s saying potentially the 31st and after that the buyer can claim the package is lost. That’s weeks away. Blooody Yodel!

Will respond to any bad review with evidence that it was a postal issue and then write him an honest review back!

I've just had the same with Yodel and thought maybe it had been lost etc but it was delivered to the buyer only two days later than the original estimate so fingers crossed the same happens for you and your buyer

Delatron · 16/01/2024 16:44

Thank you - fingers crossed!

You've got more patience than me!

I'd just remind him he's buying second hand clothes for peanuts off Joe Public. You're not ASOS! Vinted and Yodel have procedures in place RE delays/lost parcels which you're following. I'd tell him I won't be giving constant updates because I have an actual life, but that I will continue to monitor as appropriate and will provide updates when I actually hear from the companies. Unfortunately this is just the way it goes sometimes and he surely knew that when he bought the coat. If he wanted a coat that was going to reliably arrive the next day and be instantly replaced if it went missing, he should've ordered from a business.

Thank you. This puts it in to perspective a bit! I sent it out the day he ordered. Send the tracking details, send the receipt and updated him. Can’t do anything else my end.

I agree with @BalletBob. I love buying on Vinted but I'd never buy something I needed quickly. On one occasion I did a favour for somebody who wanted some shoes for a holiday but otherwise, you can't rely on it to be quick!

Delatron · 16/01/2024 21:40

Yeah - I think he’s being impatient. Probably wants his coat for this cold spell but it’s a good point - there’s no guaranteed quick delivery with Vinted. I think the sellers even have 7 days to post it (I always try and post quickly but still).

I had this as a buyer. The seller sent me an arsey message thinking I had declined the delivery. And then it was delivered to me the next day! Very bizarre!!

thingsineverthoughtidsay · 16/01/2024 22:24

Sorry, that was in reply to @Xanadu58
