Was amazed with passport renewal turnaround this week. Applied online last Thursday 11th January and received new passport this morning!!
Praise due for this and their communication updates.

That's great

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 16/01/2024 10:54

Good post. I applied for 3 from Europe a month ago and all 3 were back to us within 10 days!!

2chocolateoranges · 16/01/2024 10:54

Wow that was quick, dds arrived really quickly when we ordered it too. Think it took 10 days from ordering to the arrival and that was spring last year. Just in time for the holiday rush.

LaVitesse2022 · 16/01/2024 10:56

Great experience from me too. I got 2 passports in our family for the first time last year at different points and experience for both was incredibly smooth and swift. Got nothing but praise for that service.

That's great, but one swallow does not make a summer and all that!

Christmastree455555 · 16/01/2024 10:57

Same for ours too, mine took 5days from
them receiving my old one.
Kids took four days from receiving theirs too just before Christmas. Really impressive service

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/01/2024 11:02

DS2 has just renewed his passport - old passport returned in 3 days, new one here 3 days later. Really can't complain.

LadyDanburysHat · 16/01/2024 11:03

We got 3 in August and they cam really quickly too. I think that the worst time is to try and get it before the summer as that is when they are busiest

Lucky you. I submitted renewal applications by post a couple of weeks ago for my two DS. Both forms signed by the same counter signatory in the same way.
Today I have received one renewed passport but the other application has been queried as our counter signatory doesn't have a current passport.
I asked why one application was processed but not the other and was told it was down to the 'individual examiner'.

Am now waiting for them to return the form (probably by snail mail rather than my requested email) so I can start again! It's bizarre and very irritating.

Oh no how frustrating, mine were all online applications which speeds the process up massively as the countersigner also does it online too, so no applications to send back etc.

Pagwatch · 18/01/2024 13:05

We just got my sons passport back in less than a week too. surprised doesnt cover it.

NashvilleQueen · 18/01/2024 13:05

It was on radio 4 last night that they've cleared all backlogs and are now turning them around in very short timescales

Online applications are much much easier and cheaper

bob1985 · 18/01/2024 13:09

we were the same...6 days ! so quick, i was worried but was pleasantly surprised.

Did them online too

ThatLostSock · 18/01/2024 13:13

we only did a paper application because it suited our counter signatory better (she doesn't use email).
Still doesn't explain why the passport office seem to pick and choose which applications are deemed ok and which aren't.

Theblackdogagain · 18/01/2024 13:21

I did renewal online passports for my d twins, they are 14 so this is hopefully my last time. I was directed to send them to different offices but sent to the same one to save postage.
Both got rejected as I don't hold my passport in my married name so I send off my passport and birth certificate to prove I'm me. OK I understand that.
One photo got rejected despite online it was ok, so new photo taken and submitted.
One passport cleared and sent. All ok
The other one wanted a letter from me saying I'm me? I wrote saying I'm child B mum, my birth name is X and although I married their Father Y my passport is still in x as not updated.
Finally a week later child B has been approved and hopefully all my documents will return.
So don't expect passports sent together for twins to be processed by the same person and the same decisions made.

Good to hear -did my son’s on Saturday

however an annoyed that they no longer add on the extra months if you renew early, which you have to do to ensure you get it in time!
