Etsy USD/GBP conversion credit card query

So have a quick query about Etsy - as a seller…..

If the seller is going to be charged $0.20 for listing an item and then charging another $.020 to renew listed item once one is sold, will American Express charge a conversion fee?

My son says they won’t because Etsy has already said they convert it themselves from $ to £. So actually the seller will be charged £0.16p per listing. However Etsy also state that for cross border conversions, card companies could charge a fee.

Is this correct? Anybody know?

Maybe ask on the community page for clarification? Or ask American Express directly?

Thanks. I felt too tired to call Amex last night but I’ll ring them today.
My DS has just started a little Etsy business and he doesn’t have a credit card and so I’ve put mine on there. But I will call them today.
